Electronic Records Librarians require a streamlined purchasing process for magazines and yearly subscriptions to online content. They also seek a method to assess current subscriptions, gather user feedback on content and trial new packages. With considerations such as yearly budgets and analytics feedback, librarians need weekly reports to inform their decisions effectively.
While aesthetics hold importance, rapid iteration for weekly feedback follows the “form follows function” principle, eventually leading to a more aesthetically pleasing version. Weekly deliveries included designs from Adobe XD, Sketch, and coded Bootstrap administrative panels.
Problem: Managing digital assets proves cumbersome, with a lack of knowledge transfer in the sector. Developing an administrative panel complementing current Innovative Interfaces offerings could resolve this issue, allowing librarians to review assets for budgeting, planning, and software trials.
Process:
Weekly, new dashboards and interfaces were designed, refined, coded and tested with the Electronic Rights Management team, prioritizing features crucial to their workflow. Live links and presentations facilitated measurable feedback, guiding the creation of a working prototype meeting professionals’ daily needs.
Solution:
After six weeks of iterative development, the design was ready for initial stage development and engineering, leading to a Minimum Viable Product release. Librarians now access an interface to log trial thoughts for future reference, track digital asset management needs, and utilize a simple dashboard for patron utilization insights, enabling better decisions.
